Career Readiness Lab
A program designed for freshman-aged students to come to the JVS as they enter high school. Students receive training in lab safety, tools, good work habits. Four academic credits are provided in the program along with three credits for lab. Successful completion of the program will allow students to continue their enrollment in the Career Explorations program.
  1. Guidance counselor recommendation required
  2. 14 years of age at the beginning of the school year.
  3. 0-3 high school credits earned.
Career Explorations
A program designed for sophomore-aged students who will spend up to four grading periods rotating through JVS Career-Technical labs in nine-week sessions. Four academic credits are provided, along with three credits for lab and related instruction. Successful completion of the program will allow students to apply for enrollment in a two-year JVS Career-Technical program.
  1. Guidance counselor recommendation required.
  2. 15 years of age at the beginning of the school year.
  3. 3-7 high school credits earned.
  4. Physical Education and Health credits are required in order to graduate. These credits must be completed by students, outside of their course of study at the JVS at their own expense.
Career Based Intervention - Seniors Only
Program is a one-half day experience at the JVS and a one-half day experience on the job.
  1. Guidance counselor recommendation required.
  2. Drivers license and transportation required.
  3. Employment maintained throughout the school year.

I am aware of my child's intent to attend Lorain County JVS and that the student records concerning my child may be transferred to the JVS from my child's Associate School for review by the professional staff.
